The minutes of the October 5, 2009 meeting were approved.

TREASURER’S REPORT
Julie reported a balance as of October 31 of $3,896.43 plus an outstanding receivable of $123.75.  The Treasurer’s report was approved.

OLD BUSINESS

  • Table at the Sandwich Fair worked out well.  Don B estimates that close to 1,000 brochures were dispersed.
  • Halloween haunting went well.  Don B followed up with Ashley on our offer to assist next year.  Leo Green asked if SBG would be willing to help with candy; we agreed to support this request.  Rebecca suggested that Advice to the Players might be helpful in future years.
  • Christmas Fair:  Diane reported that the Benz Center could be added as a site.  She also reported that the crafters will not be able to contribute to the costs of retaining the horse drawn carriage.   The current cost is $500/day.   Diane will meet with Nancy to confirm whether or not she will organize the gingerbread house contest again this year.   The caroling and Christmas tree lighting are all set up.
    • Julie reported that the Town trust funds may be a source for us to turn to, and she will investigate.  Tony agreed to take this request to the Selectmen’s meeting tonight.
    • It was moved, seconded and passed that SBG will underwrite up to $500 for one day of the carriage rides to business sites for the Christmas Fair (December 5th).  It was understood that we will explore other sources of funding to reduce SBG’s obligation.
  • Sled Dog Race (February 20th).  It was moved, seconded and passed that SBG support the Sled Dog Race with a Lead Dog sponsorship of $150.
  • SBG Annual Meeting.   Don B offered the Corner House as the venue and the group gratefully accepted.  We agreed to schedule it for Wednesday January 27th beginning at 6:30 p.m.

UPCOMING BUSINESS FORUMS AND NETWORK EVENTS:

  • Diane announced a networking meeting of Micro-credit on December 9th at Corner House 6:30-8:00 p.m.
  • Don S will send information about the next Squam Chamber business breakfast. The speaker’s topic will be small business loans.

MARKETING COMMITTEE
The committee will meet November 10th at 5:00 p.m. at Surroundings Gallery to develop a marketing plan and budget for 2010.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE

Don B will ask Don Sutton and Patsy Carega to serve as the nominating committee for next year’s officers.

SECOND CUP CONVERSATIONS
There was no Second Cup Conversation this month.  Following the December SBG meeting Elizabeth McCrellish will lead a conversation on internet based marketing.  On January 4th we will have a discussion of credit card processing.

NEXT MEETING
The next SBG meeting will be December 7, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. at Mocha Rizing.

ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 9:25 a.m.
